Description

We understand some healthcare professionals of refugee or asylum status may require an alternative form of ID to sit the OET Test if you don’t have a valid passport or government-issued national ID.

An authorisation letter from OET, along with your original documents listed with your authorisation letter request, can be used on test day as your ID.

We’ve outlined requirements and important information below:

Who is eligible for an authorisation letter from OET?

If you have proven refugee or asylum status, and don’t hold a valid passport or a government-issued national ID of the country you are taking your OET test, you can request an authorisation letter.

Authorisation letters cannot be used for lost, stolen or legally confiscated passports, or if your identification document is subject to immigration processing or application for replacement.

How do I request an authorisation letter?

To request an authorisation letter from OET, please complete the authorisation letter request form within two days of booking your test. In the form, you must provide colour scans of two identification documents containing your full name, date of birth and photograph.

If applicable, one of the two identification documents can include official immigration documents that recognise your status and contain your full name, date of birth (DoB), and no photograph.

Remember to request a new authorisation letter with each new test date/booking, including when your test is rescheduled.

When and how will I receive my authorisation letter?

You will receive your authorisation letter via email approximately one week before your test date. Be sure to check your inbox and junk/spam folder.

What do I do on the day of the test?

Print out your authorisation letter and bring it, along with your two original identification documents, to your OET test.
